Playing REAL files:

In order to play REAL Networks files like RM and RMVB with GOM Media Player,

it's necessary to install Real Alternative 1.80 on your computer.

If you attempt to play a REAL Networks file with GOM while Real Alternative is not installed, the Codec Finder window

will appear. Clicking the [Find Codec] button will take you to the page below, from which you can download Real

Alternative 1.80:

* When you perform the installation of Real Alternative 1.80, please be sure to uncheck the box next to "Player" so you

DO NOT install Media Player Classic. The version of MPC that is included in this package installer may cause

playback issues with GOM.

Clicking the [Show Details] button when playing a REAL file when Real Alternative is not installed may give the following

media information (but it won't necessarily always give this information).

If the MEDIA TYPE given when you click the show details button matches the information that is in bold below,

the information in this FAQ is relevant to your issue.

REAL files won't play after updating / re-installing GOM:

If REAL format files suddenly become unplayable after updating or re-installing GOM Media Player, simply uninstalling

and then re-installing Real Alternative 1.80 should solve the problem.

Again, please make sure that you DO NOT install Media Player Classic.

REAL files won't play properly even with Real Alternative 1.80 installed:

1. If you have Real Player installed on your computer, it may be causing conflicts with Real Alternative.

Please uninstall Real Player from your computer.

2. There is an issue with the file that you are trying to play. It might be using special codecs that GOM and

Real Alternative do not support, or it might be broken. In this case, please follow the steps below.

If the Codec Finder window pops up when you try to play the file, click the [Show Details] button when the window

appears, and copy and paste the displayed information into an email to the Support Center.

If possible, please also send us the file playback info and the file info:
