Video Output
- Output Type
This changes the process by which the video is displayed. If videos don’t seem to be displaying properly, try changing your output type.

1) (System Default Settings): Uses your system’s default video output settings.

2) Overlay Mixer (Recommended): This is the most standard output type. It utilizes the overlay function of the video card, meaning it cannot be used at the same time as a Windows Aero Theme (available in Windows Vista and higher). If you’re using this output method at the same time as an Aero Theme, your Windows appearance will revert to a basic theme style.

3) Video Renderer: Older video output type with inferior output quality when compared to other newer output types.

4) VMR 7 – Windowed mode: Windows XP® Built-in Output type for Windows XP

5) VMR 9 – Windowed mode: High-quality output type that can be used if DirectX 9.0 or later version is installed.

6) VMR 7 – Renderless mode: Windows XP® Built-in output type for Windows XP (may result in clearer video and subtitle display).

7) VMR 9 – Renderless mode: Output type that can be used if DirectX 9.0 or later version is installed (subtitles and video will be clearer than when using Video Renderer).

7) Enhanced Video Renderer: High-quality output setting for systems running Windows Vista or higher (will automatically be changed to “Video Renderer” on systems running Windows XP or lower).

- Full Screen
Adjust the ratio at which videos are displayed when playing in full screen mode.

- Overlay Color Key
Choose the boundary color between the video image and subtitles for videos containing subtitle data.

Aspect Ratio

Use the options on this tab to make adjustments the aspect ratio GOM Media Player uses.

Aspect Ratio

- Do not keep aspect ratio
This option unlocks the aspect ratio and will not preserve it when you adjust the screen/window size.

- Aspect ratio corresponding to the source input (default)
This option locks the aspect ratio to the aspect ratio of the input video (the video you’re currently watching) when you make adjustments to screen/window size.

- Stretch screen by aspect ratio
This option will stretch the video to fill the entire screen while still preserving the aspect ratio of the source video.

- Screen Ratio
"Screen ratio: Monitor Output": output video based on your monitor's aspect ratio.
"Screen ratio: TV-OUT (4x3)": output video at a fixed 4x3 aspect ratio. Selecting this option will disable the “Aspect Ratio” menu below.
"Screen ratio: TV-OUT (16:9)": output video at a fixed 16:9 aspect ratio. Selecting this option will disable the “Aspect Ratio” menu below.

- Aspect Ratio
"Default Aspect Ratio": output video based on the source video’s default aspect ratio (recommended)
"4:3 TV-OUT": output video at a 4:3 aspect ratio
"16:9 (HDTV)": output video at a 16:9 aspect ratio
"1.85: 1 (SCREEN)": output video at a 1.85:1 aspect ratio
"2.35:1 (SCREEN)": output video at a 2.35:1 aspect ratio
"User-defined Ratio": makes a slider appear that allows you to adjust the aspect ratio manually.

Video Effects

You can enable/adjust various video effects from this tab.

Aspect Ratio

- Deblock
The deblock feature will attempt to increase video quality by reducing the 'blocking' phenomenon caused by low bitrates. The pop-menu next to "Condition" allows you to set when to apply the deblock effect, and the Quality silder allows you to set the amount of Deblock to use.

- Video Effect
De-interlace: videos made with the interlacing technique will sometimes display with vertical lines running through the picture. The de-interlace feature can reduce this effect.

1) Auto-enable deinterlacing: GOM Media Player will automatically determine whether or not to enable deinterlacing.

2) Disable deinterlacing: Never use deinterlacing.

3) Enable deinterlacing: Always use deinterlacing.

Smoothen: Smooth edges and reduce noise. Check the box to enable manipulation of the slider.
Sharpen: Sharpen edges to make blurry images clearer. Check the box to enable manipulation of the slider.
Noise: Adds noise to the video. Check the box to enable manipulation of the slider. Check the box next to Color Noise to add color noise.

Video Output

Make adjustments to output offset and color space from this tab.

Aspect Ratio

- Output Offset
Selecting this option lets you manually adjust any screen positioning abnormalities caused by luma / chroma sorting problems.

・ Luma refers to the portion of an image that contains no color information.

・ Chroma refers to the portion of an image that contains color information.

- Color Space
You can set your color output mode here. The YUV mode allows for overlay output and will consume fewer CPU resources than RGB.

Selecting the improper color space format setting may result in playback errors.

Screen Size

You can change the original size when watching your video. "Screen Size" in this case refers to how GOM Player interprets the default size of a given input video. You can adjust that default size from this tab.

Aspect Ratio

Check the box next to “Change the screen size” to enable the settings below. The settings for “Original Screen Size” will determine when the settings for “Changed Screen Size” are applied.

- Original Screen Size
Set a resolution using the input boxes. Click the arrow button to bring up a list of common resolution presets.

1) If smaller than the selected resolution: Changes the screen size if the video being played if it’s default resolution is smaller than the selected resolution.

2) If larger than the selected resolution: Changes the screen size if the video being played if it’s default resolution is larger than the selected resolution.

3) Always use: Always change the screen size of the video being played, regardless of its default resolution.

- Changed Screen Size
Decide how you want a video’s screen size to change when it fits the criteria set in “Original Screen Size”. You can change the screen size by a multiplier, or change it to a specific resolution.

1) Multiplier: select a multiplier by which to change your screen size (for example, set 2.0 for twice as big, or 0.5 for half size).

2) New size: Input a specific screen size. Check the box next to “keep ratio” to preserve the video’s default aspect ratio when changing the screen size.

Click the [Apply Now] button to apply the changes you’ve made.

There are two common uses for this function.

1. The first is when using the screen capture function (Ctrl + E). GOM Media Player captures screenshots at the video’s default size, regardless of the window size at which you’re currently watching it. By using the controls on this tab, you can set the video to the exact size you what your screenshots to be.

2. This function is also useful when trying to play high quality videos on low performance computers. Simply resizing the window won’t cause the video to play more smoothly, but altering the default size of the video may enable a slower computer to play back high quality videos at a normal speed.
